    Hi gang,

I'm picking up a new 4-door, short bed Tacoma next week. I'm going to need to put a cap on it, as we have dogs. I was wondering if you could share your experiences with either Leer caps or A.R.E. caps with regard to fit, finish, and durability. Any suggestions (or cautions) would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards from Michigan.

I have a Leer 100R and it's been great. Only thing I would do different would be to have the fold down front window for easier cleaning because it's a pain in the butt otherwise. For my day-to-day work and for trips, having a cap is the best choice.

I have an ARE CX series with vented windoors and love it. My lab also enjoys a nice ride in it. No issues with leakage

I'm getting the are. snug top is too expensive. leer is nice too, but i found are where I'm at to be a bit more affordable. looks kinda matter up til i hit my budget. :) i hear a lot guys complaining about leakage, etc, however i put everything in tubs w/lids in back anyways..it makes it easier to unload on the fly and have room for other stuff. def get a fold down slider window for sure.

Look for used before buying new. You can save a lot of $$$$. I have a Leer. Only thing I don't like about it is that the back glass doesn't seal all the way and they fudged up the third brake light hole at the factory causing a waterfall into my bed every time it rained or I washed my truck. Fixed it with silicon.
