Redhead Kronik. My first bow after using firearms for years. Ammo is too expensive. Arrows are MUCH cheaper!

I'm jealous! I think I may go with the Monster though. Going to wait for an after season special on them.

Mathews LX, Copper John sight w/tritium pin, whisker bisquit rest, easton axis 400, Griztrick 100gr broad heads. 273fps of death.
Here it is in action...about 4 or 5 years ago. One reason I got so fired up is we got it from 2 different camera angles. If you watch the whole video you will see a shooting house on the other end of the field. We had another camera guy getting that angle.

I love it. Redhead bows are actually manufactured by Diamond and sold under Redheads name. But as a beginner who's been shooting arrows for only the better part of 4 months, at 50 yds I can get a group around 1 foot. At 30 and 40 yds I can usually get between 6" and 8" and for some reason at 20 yds my groups don't get much better. Maybe around 4" groups. Though I blame user error as this thing is probably way more accurate than I am.

Though everyone at the range always comes up to me to tell me that this bow is one of the quietest they've seen/heard in a long time.

On a side note, the carbon arrows are expensive initially, but 5 20rnd boxes of .300 win mags and you've already paid for a dozen arrows that you can reuse over and over. Don't factor in the fact that I've already broken 5 of my arrows

Yea it was only 90 degrees that day. We were both up there sweating to death.

We had two camera's rolling. Got the recovery on the other camera and I don't have a copy of the tape. I do have a pic somewhere. I'll try and post it. They were both mature 90lb and 110lb does. 1st one piled up about 5yds in the wood line and you can see the 2nd one do a nose dive into a pile of trash.
...Only pic I could find of it is in the collection of pics I put together one time. It's the one in the middle with a few of my buddies behind me. The pic with the 2 does to the left is my 1st double back in 99. Shot those two off the ground about 5 mins apart. You can see the entrance hole on the doe to the right. Shot her at 7 steps head on. I was sitting with my legs sprawled eagle and she kept coming right at me. It was self defense. She ran off, piled up. I stood up and grabbed another arrow and low and behold here comes one of her buddies. 15yds. She took 3 steps after the shot and dropped right there.

Yes folk that is a Fred Bear Whitetail 2 :D

Don't want to pay for a new bow but this one works flawlessly so I don't see why I need a new one.

Plus in VA crossbows are now legal for bow season so I used my dads after I had surgery on my shoulder

The Whitetail was the first bow I ever owned, bought it used from a gun shop in Norfolk, VA and shot many an arrow with it during highschool. I don't even know what happened to it, I think my parents sold it at a garage sale when I moved out of the house. After going about 12 years without shooting, I've finally got a house where I can make a range in the back yard, so I'm looking to get a new bow again. Any suggestions for what will basically be my first bow? I'm going to mainly if not entirely going to be shooting targets, at least for a while.

Go for the forgiveness factor... Longer axle to axle (36" give or take and inch) and a generous brace height (7" or better). Everyone is making a good bow these days. Get one that feels good and fits you. You can find some good used Mathews and Bowtechs if you do some searches on scambay...I mean ebay.

I'm in the market for a new rig and I'm eyeballin' this baby. Gonna go Mathews for sure due to their willingness to support the youth and the CBA!
    present and accounted for sir.:D
What is your main reason for liking it if I might ask?

Myself, I shoot a Hoyt Fast Flight......about a 1994 model. It's pretty bad when you go to a 3-D shoot and everyone looks at your bow and says,"wow, that thing is in great shape." You know it must be old.:D It's been a trusty back strap harvesting machine though!!

I did get my twins set up this year, so next year 'ol dad gets set up, and probably momma too.
