    just curious,
about my 2013 Tacoma, I had the DRL (daytime running lights) on and noticed that when on it only lights the (x2) parking lights in the front and not any other lights Rear or side markers....why is that?

From what I've read, DRL's turn on the front turn signal lights and are not designed for night driving. In the manual it says it's because it decreases electricity consumption and increase fuel economy. You can read more good stuff at toyota.com/owners, which is where you can find a manual. Apparently the Canadians can't turn off the DRL's.

What I like about this is that it doesn't fool you at night to think you actually have your headlights on. You see cars at night regularly with no tail lights on because their DTRLs are their headlights and they think they've got their headlights on. Really common with rental cars and people not familiar with that car.

I like that the DRL doesn't turn on the headlights,
But you think it would turn on the taillights,
It was a foggy day & I wanted my running lights on but wanted the full brightness of the daytime dash lights.....that's when I noticed that the DRL didn't turn on the taillights

In most vehicles DTRL's only turn on something in the fronts whether its the headlights or front parking lights that usually have a dual filament bulb to make them brighter. My VW Jetta had all the lights turn on for DTRL's and I hated that cause it was the same thing as turning on your regular lights at night. I installed the OEM DTRL's on my 2006 but took them out shortly after cause they were melting my reflectors.

Not to get off subject, but it would also be nice to be able to turn on my foglights with just my parking/driving lights instead of only when the headlights are on

There is a foglight mod where you dont need any other lights on to turn them on....just use the foglight switch. But I did that on my 2006....not sure if the newer 2012+ are the same way wiring diagram wise?
