Was just in tj yesterday for tacos and drinks. Can't beat the prices down there and the people. Stoked for the 500 in a couple weeks

 

I will be in Baja Mar, Ensenada & Erendira

 

I will be in Baja that Saturday, but not at the race course, sadly!

There are a couple of course changes, Baja Nomad member and Toyota truck owner 'TW' posted them... he has a different handle here on Tacoma World, because TW is also short for Tacoma World!

Thank you for the race photos! The Jeep pulling a Tacoma kind of spoiled the series however! LOL

TOO MUCH AIR IN THE TIRES!!! In sand, deflate (and always have an air pump when you are out of the sand)!

 

Jeep was starting to get stuccoed too, both of them eventually aired down and it took a decent amount of pushing from the rear of the truck to get it out. Happened probably 5 min before the trophy trucks came through, and they were on the other side of a jump

My first Baja race (watching) was the 1973 Baja 1000... I took a Super 8 movie of the racers going by... We camped about 10 miles east of Ojos Negros, near where the new pavement ended (on the San Felipe future highway).

Mickey Thompson was not able to qualify his pickup, so he and son Danny drove out and camped next to us the night before the race.

Here's a photo I took of Parnelli Jones coming back to Ensenada, driving his 'Big Oly' Bronco back up onto the trailer, the day before the race, 'warming up' his tires (he told me)...

TOO MUCH AIR IN THE TIRES! You can get anything across sand with enough air dropped out of the tires. It is called 'floatation'...

 

I added some more race photos. Some friends and I are talking about putting a moto team together (we can't afford a car) since we ride. We could swing the Sportsman class. Maybe start with the 250 and then the 500.
