Measured driveline angles, please help me troubleshoot

    I bought myself an angle finder and decided to troubleshoot my 0-25mph takeoff vibes.

    Transfer case: 2 degrees
    Front shaft: 8.5 degrees
    Rear shaft: 6.5 degrees
    Axle: 5.5 degrees

    Where am I screwed up and how to I fix it? Currently I have a carrier bearing drop of 5/16" installed, and the driveshaft middle sits on the low side of the bearing, not firmly centered.

    Just off hand I'm thinking I need to remove the bearing drop and shim the axle ~2 degrees or so.

    Measurements without bearing drop:
    Front shaft: 7.75 degrees
    Rear shaft: 6.75 degrees

    After flipping carrier bearing:
    Front: 4.5 degrees
    Rear: 9 degrees

    Takeoff shudder same if not worse. Thinking axle wrap now, or worn out carrier bearing.

    Solution done. 1-piece driveshaft with standard U-joints at both ends. Removed 3 degree shims which caused h50MPH+ vibration. $400 out the door from a local shop. Nicely built and lighter than the original shaft.

    Result: 0-5mph shudder under heavy acceleration from a stop from axle wrap. Otherwise flawless.

    To completely kill vibrations I may upgrade to some form of trac bar.

    Well, I didn't get much feedback here. I researched all I could on the forums, consulted a friend who is a drive-train specialist, troubleshot it myself, and posted my results so hopefully others can learn from my experiences.

    I have a very slight take off shudder under moderate to heavy throttle to 5mph, but it's good enough. The angles between the pinion and transfer case are ~.5 degrees.

    Trac bars would totally kill the vibes, and I'd do that if I decide to supercharge in the future.

    Too few of use feel qualified to make commits on driveline angles. Do you have bigger tires?
