Maybe I'm being picky, or maybe it's b/c one other vehicle I owned had tint and it was factory..or maybe not.

Had my slider tinted the other day. The sliding pane is on the left. The right part is the leftmost pane. The other side looks the same.

I'm not too picky but i do expect a job to done the right way, that's not to much to ask. i would go back and tell them you're not happy. i like most have had many a tint jobs, gaps like that are a sure sign of half assin' it.

That doesn't even look good if you did it yourself.

    Make them redo it.

I used to tint myself and that is not acceptable, I get it there's no gasket to tuck the tint under but you can get closer than that...

It was always my thought that the tinting shouldn't go to the edge to keep it from getting caught and making it peel. I have had side windows tinted in the past and there was always a border of un-tinted glass at the edge where it gets near a seal or a gasket. I'm by no means an expert on the subject, but this may be normal.

On a side window that rolls up and down maybe, but that pane isn't going anywhere..should that still be the case?

On another note, I'm guessing the film wouldn't expand over to cover that at all..like I said, never dealt with the film before

    None atm.
That would drive me nuts, I know in my area I would be seeing the sun coming in and it would drive me nuts. A few years ago I had a similar tint job and the installer tried to use a marker to color in the gap. I took it to the shop I use now and they fixed it. They also have a machine that cuts the tint, I have yet to find any edge problems on my vehicles since.

I had a similar issue, not as big a gap on mine. What I did was get some very thin pinstriping and cover the gap. I did both sides next to the slider.
