I have owned my 14' DCSB TRD off road 4X4 for a month now and today was the first day I got to try out all the goodies. I went with a buddy of mine who is a Rang Rover guy and he was blown away with what a stock Off Road 4X4 Tacoma could do. We went out early into the desert exploring some pretty nasty hills, and in 4L with A-Trac on, we climbed some hills with no problem that he would not attempt in his Rover.

I have read multiple times how amazing A-Trac is and let me tell you, it flat out rocks. I am so thankful I chose the Off Road package because I do actually go 4 wheeling with my truck, today was a great day.

I engaged my rear locker as we were leaving just to exercise it, but I honestly wonder if I will ever need it thanks to A-Trac.

I was pretty impressed the first time I saw the advantages to a-trac, my only complaint is the three mile per hour rule but I'm sure that's for a reason

you thought a trac was good... a trac with locker.... is mind blowing.

stuff that i couldn't get over in 4 high / 4 low w/o atrac or locker (full flex tire in the air stuff open diffs) its usually possible to get through in 2 wheel drive with just the rear locked.

throw the locker and atrac together in 4 low and its stupid.

3mph rule is because its literally stopping the tire all together applying significant brake force... over 3mph this would be too much of a constant shock load on the drivetrain.

    enough to go over stuff
I use my lock first. If that fails then I add atrac. Unless im climbing rocks. Then Atrac and locker on right away. I have friends that just leave ATRAC on when They offroad because it will automatically start working when you need it.

I leave Atrac on when off road then turn on locker if needed. It is nice, one day I will put a locker up front.
