So I have been watching a video series over on xoverland.com and in almost every episode the Land Cruiser gets stuck and has to be recovered. At first I thought it was just because it was the one puling the trailer, then I learned something interesting:

    Model(2013)..................Curb Weight
    -------------------------------------------
    Tacoma ....................... 3,335lbs
    4Runner ...................... 4,675lbs (+1,340 lbs over Tacoma)
Land Cruiser ................ 5,730lbs (+2,395 lbs over Tacoma)

And that's all before adding things like bumpers, winches, cargo, etc...

I had no idea the Land Cruiser and 4Runner were so heavy.

According to the local garbage dump scale, my 08" X-Runner weighs in at 3,780 with 1/2 a tank of fuel. About what I expected.

Yeah, last time I was on the scale, weighed in at 4770lbs. Lots of tools.

    In case anybody is interested:

I had to weigh a 2005 Tundra (4.7l 4WD AC Limited Stepside bed) to get it titled in CO.

4920 lbs with about 25 gallons in the gas tank, pretty much totally bone stock, no shell, no tonneau, plastic Toyota bedliner, Bilstein HD 4600 shocks, stock coils and rear leafs, OEM 16" alloy wheels, standard original spare, jack and kit, maybe 40lbs in tools, some heavier 265/75/16 Yokohama tires compared to stock (yes, I went to Tirerack and compared the weights, about 56 lbs extra with the Yoko's).

Published curb weight for the '05 Tundra AC 4WD Stepside was 4785 lbs, so they were pretty much spot on.

So a published curb weight of 4055 lbs for a "comparable" 2012 Tacoma 4.0l AC 4WD 6-spd Manual, I have to think that published curb weight is spot on also.

Yeesh, 730 lbs difference. Toyota did some good work with that composite bed, I bet that's 400 lbs right there.

I'm thinking I'll get the 2012 Taco weighed on the same scale ($10 and ten minutes, what the hell) and see what it weighs with the Leer 180 on it.

Bought Mulch by weight a couple weeks ago, my 2010 Tacoma Access Cab, 4cyl, 5sp, SR5 with a 35# Brittany in the access compartment rolled the scale to just over 4000lb, don't remember how much gas I had, but the bed was empty awaiting the mulch.
