Several months ago while installing Bilstein 5100's, after I had removed the wheels, I noticed something interesting stamped on the back side of the wheels. It reads "Max Tire Diameter 31" (see attached picture). Now this was on the stock 16" x 8" alloy wheels that came with the truck. I've seen a few other members with these same wheels. They are not TRD package wheels, but are the alloy wheels you get when you buy a non-TRD package Tacoma from a Gulf States Toyota dealership, but choose the alloy wheel option to upgrade from the standard steel wheels.

My question is this, if I want to put on 265/75/16 tires on these wheels, will I have issues? Why in the hell would they even put that stamp on the wheel? I know the actual diameter on the 265/75/16 tire size comes out to just under 32", so technically it's still a 31" (and some change) tire, but just want to make sure I'm not setting myself up for issues down the road. Or, what if I order the tires and whatever shop I go to for mount and balance refuses to put them on because the tire exceeds the wheel's max tire size per the stamp on the wheel.

Help me out wise people of Tacoma World!
