So I just purchased a 2002 Tacoma today! Woo hoo! It came with 3 keys, 1 of which was original, the other 2 being copies. It did not come with any keyless entry remotes or anything of that nature.

Having said that, is there a way to tell if my 2002 came with factory keyless entry and maybe the previous owner lost the remotes? If not, what are my cheapest options?

Second question is, when I lock the doors, all the locks go down. HOWEVER, the rear driver side door still opens from the outside, despite the lock being in the down position...what gives?

Hmm, I wasn't aware they could tell you just by the vin. might have to check into that.

If you have a glass breakage sensor anywhere on the dash then it has an alarm system, looks like this: SecurityDisplay_60ebe2e86d4dc959a31e621dc97e2eaa74dd179b.jpg
You can also check behind the driver side kick panel or under the drivers seat for the alarm ecu:RS3000_6883e7e49f8a87e28b2eaae8e75bd671218dbc55.jpg
