It's gonna take at least two tanks of gas to really tell on your mpg

It doesn't effect mpg, don't need any tanks.

What happens when you take the screen out that's in front of the MAF?

I drove my 4.0 about 4 tankful's without the screen and it did not change the MPG, but the engine was not as smooth at low RPM's. so I reinstalled it and around town drivability improved. So I would saw removing the screen does nothing.

Good to know, so it does help with air flow to the maf.

It does nothing positive, but you noted the engine didn't run as smoothly. In some vehicles removing the screen lets turbulent air hit the sensor which makes the fuel mixture bounce around.

    Howdy,
I read all these posts about removing the carbon filter so I took a look at mine. After about 5 minutes I decided to do it. I used a box cutter and just cut around the perimeter and it was done. Took all of 2 minutes. No mess or cuttings to clean up. The Taco loves it. It still runs smooth and I know it is flowing more air without a messy pattern after it went through that screen. It was easy and of course I celebrated with several cool beverages. Have a goodun!!!!!!!!!!

Put some magnets on the fuel lines and really wake it up.

quick newbie question about this mod. Will putting in a K&N intake system remove the secondary filter?

And it still won't make any difference in power and MPG will be worse.
