I have a 2011 PreRunner with about 68k and with the original tires. They still have some tread and would be fine to drive 4k to 5k more. My question is whether you think it would be worth buying a cheap set of new tires to put on it to "stage it" for sale and get the most for the truck? I could get a set of decent tires for about $350. Otherwise, the truck is in really good shape, with lots of extras (shell, Wet Okoles, Console Vault, Weathertech mats, etc).

I have had several friends recommend it. Any thoughts?

I probably wouldn't if the tires you're buying are used. Especially if the truck runs smooth (no vibration). I would just knock off money if they mention it. $300 would probably seem reasonable to knock off.

I wouldn't and don't. Most of the time it is a waste of your money. Dealers don't care and usually the person buying won't think about it. Now If they were damn near bald then yes. When I sold my mustang I actually took my tires off and bought some decent used ones because my tires were brand new and almost 2k for just rubber. 305/40/19 gets costly for the good stuff

x2, I'd just prepare to knock off the $350 if the buyer mentions it (or offer to put the new tires on if the buyer makes a big stink about it).

I would not buy used tires. I am looking at some GT Radial Savero HT2 tires from a local shop. Out the door for 4 is $350. I googled the tire and they actually get pretty damn good user reviews. If I was thinking of keeping the truck I would consider getting some of these.
