Hey guys, got an 05 Tacoma, its a V6 auto pre runner. Recently one of my u joints(the one coming off the third member) had disintegrated, causing a terrible drive train vibration at all speeds and in any way of accelerating. So had all three replaced and the vibes were gone, accept for accelerating quickly/hard, there would be a bad vibe/aggressive shaking of the whole truck till about 25mph. So threw the go pro under there to see whats going on and here is what I got. Now keep in mind the carrier bearing was replaced about 6k miles ago. As far as lift in the rear I have all pro 3" springs. And also installed a 1.25" spacer on the flange of the third member(added the first time the carrier went out). So at this point I am assuming carrier or transmission/motor mounts

Still there! So it has to be the culprit? It seems like the transmission mount is fine, doing what its supposed to do, and then some, due to the carrier allowing THAT much movement.

i had the same issue and the unfortunately it was the pinion bearing, which is a big job. see if you can get a chassis ear hooked up to that area and try to eliminate that as a cause.

Yeahhh.... do you see how much your carrier is moving?!?!?

Though the wacky way the prerunners work as far as acounting for drivline extension / contraction with the front slip yoke and no slip joint.... it could be that during axle wrap on acceleration, when the pinion swings up and thus trys to push the driveshaft forward, something is causing the front yoke not to be able to slide into the transmission to account for this forward movement and the only way for the driveshaft to move is bend up at the center u joint / carrier.

You think if it were the cause there would be some oil seeping or and easier way to diagnose it?

So possibly the carrier could be fine? Where/what would you think would be stopping it? Or a way to check if it is the cause? Because the truck was fine up until the u joint went bad, which is what has me thinking it can also be the pinion bearing....

Bump. Threw the gopro under there again and watched the axle/rear portion of the drive shaft. Appears I have some severe axle wrap. Now that is leading me to believe what is causing the vibration, and what caused the u-joint to fail. Makes sense right?

makes sense to me. These leafsprings are very soft from the factory.

I have the AllPro 3" springs. It didn't have wrap until recently, probably the springs just being broken in and softening up?
