I have a 95 Tacoma v6 4x4 single cab. It has 292xxx on it. I'm only the third owner, the previous two were very good at maintenance, I myself have slacked the past few years. I plan on replacing the timing belt, water pump, etc a few seals and the norm like belts and plugs. I'm concerned on what to do... I'm tied between putting money into it like a tune up (done by me so only expenses is parts) and re painting it plus some tint, etc. I'm newly engaged and more then likely will HAVE to have a 4 door in about 3-4 years... I don't have the kind of cash nor do I want to finance a newer truck but will if I need too. The timing belt in my current taco has been replaced twice and is past due for a current one, which like I said will be done by next month. Even if the motor blows up, in confident I can find a good used motor for around $1000 and be back in business.

    So...

Should I keep putting money in to redoing my current yota to make it nice, or just enough to make it run?

    Or...

Do I sell, and finance a newer, larger truck?

    Thanks guys

Maintain the Tacoma and buys used 4-door Civic or Camry when the time comes.

The fiance is a RN and wants either a SUV or a large(r) type car. So... I guess I should have included its really something for me... Lol, and not so much the potential of kids factor... Lol

Every year I drive from FL to GA to hunt, and this year will be going to VA maybe twice or so. I love to travel for hunting trips. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't hesitate in a second to jump in my 95 and it be faithful to Canada! But lacking room sucks, and obviously the unknown of when will it die... Lol

I guess my current game plan will be to re do my yota to a extent and be prepared to get a newer TRD or early 2000s in a couple Years. I want to avoid anything really newer then that

keep the yota as at this point it is paid off and does not impact your financials other than general maintenance. if you need to bump up look for a good used 01-04 DC (doesn't have to be TRD or Limited). they hold value and you might find one low enough that a bank will help with a loan.

Awesome thanks guys, if the fiance gets one this December. Might be as early as next year some time that I'll find one. Guess it goes with out saying their good vehicles.
