    Looking for some guidance.

I wired in some LED back up lights on my new rear bumper. I wired them into the taillight reverse light power...lights work fine.

When I went to pull the truck out of the garage, it wouldn't shift out of park into drive, and there is an airbag warning light on the dash...

    what have I done???

Try using the Transmission lock override button. Cant tell you exactly where it is, but its there.

You probably blew a brake light fuse so the tranny doesnt know your pressing the brakes, thus not letting the shifter move..

Check the IGN1 and IGN2 fuses located under the drivers side little compartment. I've seen it before.

    Wow, maybe wrong wire ??...

Hmmm, never heard of that button & don't think blowing a brakelight fuse is going to cause that, but with electrical ya never know where its going to lead..

you blew your tail fuse. under dash or under hood. takes 3 second to fix once you find it.

its safety mechanism. if you blow the fuse running brake lights the car locks the transmission so you are not driving around without brake lights.

Wow, that's a cool feature. More cars should have that.

OP, hope this does it for you.

OK....so I checked it and yes....IGN1 fuse was blown.

Replaced the fuse, started up, airbag sensor off...truck shifts...then IGN1 fuse blew again.

Actually what happens is what the other guy said. you can't shift out of park unless your foot is on the brake. If the fuse is blown, than the shifter thinks your foot is not on the brake, thus you can't shift out of park. It is not a special safety feature.

two of those draw too much from the reverse light circuit. You should use a relay operated by the reverse light to control them.

Those lights (although LED) myust draw a lotta power. Reverse lights wouldnt normally be used to splice other lights off of, so yes i think a relay would help you out in this situation. Get power from the battery or somewhere other than the reverse light. Sorry that probably isnt what you want to hear, more work! You should upload a pic of your bumper and new lights tho.

    Fuse under the dash.

You probably lost your turn signals and A/C.

There is a button under the little square cap on the shifter panel. That overrides the lockout

    LOL.

Based on the light specs, those things pull 3 amps -- IF the specs are accurate. I would allow at least 5 amps for steady run, but use a 10 or 15 amp in-line fuse (and run it from the battery, just using a relay off the reverse lights).

you cannot really tap reverse bulb power for anything, they are so feeble.

as others said, you need a real new circuit, and a relay for those monsters you show

Really? that is the dumbest f-ing idea I've heard in a long time.....

So you blow the fuse by accident for whatever reason and you can't even drive yourself to the store to buy new fuses? Wow.

had this happen to me. i think its a 10 amp fuse to start? (correct me if im wrong) I wired in 2 - 55w back up lights to the reverse lights. then it occured to me... 55x2= 110w.. 110w/12V= 9+ amps alone. figure in the reverse lights themselves and your over 10amp. not the correct way to fix it but i just replaced with one fuse size bigger and haven't had a problem yet. plus in an emergency it gets you home.
