I recently took my OME kit off due to a few factors, (dealer honoring warranty, excessive wear on other parts, vibes etc.) and REALLY miss the weight carrying ability that the Dakar's offered.

I reached out to Alcan and they said they can make me (for a price) a custom set of stock height to 1/2" over stock height leafs that can handle weight much better, and although they would need to be stiffer, not be a bone-jarring ride.

    Im thinking:
    1. I'll keep stock driveline geometry - no excessive wear, vibes, bushings seizing...
    2. A dealer can't say that they caused or contributed to any other issues that would void warranty, because the truck would be at stock height.
    3. Be 'better' than air bags - no monitoring or changing psi, no limit on flex, weight well be on leaf springs, not my "bump stops" as the ride-rites replace the bump stops.
    4. No more throwing a wet paper towel in the back of my truck and it sagging like a 90 year old womans rack.

Has anyone else gone with this option?

That's pretty much what I did. I bought the wheelers HD leaves and pulled a leaf out of each. Slightly stiffer ride, and raised the rear about an inch.

You pretty much described what I'm looking for, but haven't come to any concrete decisions. (Yes, looked through many threads)

I'm looking for stock height in the back (maybe a max of 1 inch lift), but with more load capacity, as height is less of concern. My rear shocks also need replacing and I would like the 5100's (currently on my front), but I'm told a lift is necessary.

    My questions:
    1) Whats the next best rear shock replacement for stock leaf height? I want ones that keep my tires stuck to the road, as currently by back kicks out (scary) if I hit bumps at fast speed.

    2) What brands offer OME leafs but with better load capacity?
    3) Or, do I get an AAL? As it should give me more load capacity and not really conflict with any stock engineering? (ie. brakelines, vibrations).

Thanks, and open to all suggestions.

I haven't dug into it yet, but am wanting the same thing (anticipating at some point I will have to replace the factory non-TSB springs) - very little to no lift replacement pack that is of better quality. What I have in mind is a near flat pack with multiple thin leafs (versus the two fatter leafs with the overload spring) that meets/exceeds the factory weight support of the OEMs and adds little height.

I haven't poked around yet to see what's out there. I have seen the recommendations on the board, but those usually end up getting you an 1" of lift.

I'm in the same boat as well. I don't want to have to deal with driveline vibrations. I'm almost sold on the general spring hd springs. It's between these and the wheelers hd. Generals are cheaper and offer greater capacity.
