Anybodey else have this? Sounds like a metallic clink noise coming from my rear brake or brakes. It happens when i initially hit the brake, just kind of loud clink noise, just one clink.. It hasnt always done this, Just the past thousand miles or so and i just cant figure out what it is?!?!? The rears are drum brakes.

Your pad may not be making "round" contact. They are out of round and so now when you brake hard they are pushing the shoes around inside the housing.

    1. time for a new set of drums or get yours turned
    2. also replace the shoes
    3. drive away happy

    OR

Problem is the tension clips that hold the shoe pins against the backplate. The clips did not have enough tension to pull the pin all the way though the brake assembly and in turn not force the shoe against the backplate. So under braking the springs that engage the brakes pull the shoes away from the backplate and they begin to flap. So to fix this problem you need to either buy new clip with the proper tension, or pull them apart with some pliers to provide more tension.

Sounds like there is not enough lube between the shoes and the backing plate. You can pull the drum off and pull the shoe out a little (no need to disassemble everything) and lube the contact points.
How many miles? New truck or 1,000 since the brakes were done? If it's a new truck just bring it to the dealer.

Not a brand new truck. 2011 with 47K miles. its not a typical grinding or anything like that. Just a kinda loud tink noise! and honestly it only does it like every other time i hit the brake. Id like to see if i can figure it out myself but im not so sure i can without tearing everything apart.

Located the noise is actually coming from the front part of the vehicle, not rear as i initially thought.
