    Hi Gang,
I thought I'd tap into your brains for ideas.

My husband and I moved into a new house back in April. The last couple weekends we've been cleaning up the landscaping. It still needs work, but at least now, there's no weeds and nice bed of mulch. We yanked out some dead bushes & such.

We really want to find a 'Millstone' to place in the landscaping. However - real ones tend to be very expensive or they're cheap and cost a fortune to transport (they weight a shit-ton). I don't necessarily want a real one - but a fake one will be just fine. *cheap* is key. 48"or so would be awesome. I can't locate any of these things in my 'searches'. There's a farm down the street that has a Millstone sitting outside, but I'm almost afraid to show up at his front door and ask (I might build up the guts to do it someday). At least ask him about it and where or how I can find another one. Other than that, I don't know any farmers or auctioneers to locate one for cheap. I don't have the time to 'build' my own with concrete.

I've also been interested in the looks of a 'Sugar Mill Gear' - or similar industrial gears for other areas of our landscaping. We also want to build our own *Cairn* too.

Any ideas of where or how to find these 'oddball' landscaping decorations? I'm up for other ideas - I just don't want the cheesy stuff you find at Walmart/Lowes. I want something that's different, industrial, and unique.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!! I'm located in Lancaster, PA - so a road trip is not out of the question.

    Thanks!

For gears, industrial stuff, try the big scrapyards.
    Consider old farm machinery.

Some plywood to build a form and dyed crete would give you a credible diy millstone.

That would be sweet!! LOL It probably weighs 3000lbs. Now if I could only find someone with a hoist truck and hope they wouldn't get caught on the road!

I like that idea....I guess we just gotta spend some weekends walking around Lancaster county. Lots of areas for old farm equipment!
