Well since everyone is making build threads I thought I'd join the club. I have a 2009 TRD Off Road 4x4 Access Cab, I bought the truck new in August 2008 with 5 miles on the ODO. I bought the truck as sort of a present to myself for getting out of the Marine Corps after 5 years of service. I traded in my 2002 4Runner and used the money I had from my last deployment to buy the truck outright.

UWS low-pro black tool box was my first mod in Nov. 08, great toolbox and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a toolbox:



Orange cat mod , circa 08':



Rugged Trails wore out their welcome in March 09, replaced with BFG All Terrains in 265/75/16 - great all around tire:



Painted wheels flat black with Rustoleum Hammer finish black spray paint in June of 09:



After owning her for one year I decided it was time for a lift, OME complete 3" kit from Toytec. I also totally de-badged the truck around this time - July 09:

thanks for the comments guys, the wheels are holding up ok. i have a few tiny nicks from off roading but i can live with it.

do you have any issues running the stock wheels w/ lift and bigger tires? i'm thinking of a similar setup on my double cab and thought the stock backspace might be a problem. i hope not, though because i like the painted stocks better than most of the matte black rims i've seen. thanks

 

welcome to TW! no, there are no issues running the stock wheels with 265/75/16 tires. i think 285s would require either wheels spacers or an aftermarket UCA though. the only thing is that my alignment is slightly off until i get new UCAs but its not too bad, just a slight wander on the highway.

 

^^yeah that's how mine are still run pretty well though.

thanks for the tire info. any tips on painting the wheels? i've read about people putting different levels of effort into prep. what route did you go?

Just got my Pro Comp 7089 wheels installed today. I also changed my engine oil, rear differential oil, and cleaned my air filter. The wheels are awesome, they give my truck a wider stance than my stock TRD OR wheels did and they look a lot better. Still not sure if im gonna be selling my old wheels or holding on to them. Next on the list...all pro bumper or sliders...



Wider stance...looks much better.
