Jacob I see a couple things wrong. Your tent should definitely be flipped so that the channel for the travel cover is on the bottom. The ladder strap should be on the top and can be closer to the hinge or the other side. If you have the sliding ladder that most CVTs ship with the strap will work in either location. If you have the telescoping ladder you probably want the strap mounted closer to the side away from the hinge.

Go easy on me - my first post here :D

SO many RTT's now... Just a couple of years ago, they seemed as rare as hen's teeth, or an uncrowded surf break.

They all look so purty - some fine work on display.

After a year or so toting my CampingLab RTT around at mid-height, I started dreaming about a mounting system which allow me to raise the RTT height when it came time to sleep/deploy.

Fast forward a couple of years, and hours of contemplation and fabrication, I presently travel with the RTT at mid-height - and sleep at cab+ height.

And RTT w/ base/lifting system removed and stowed against the rafters

Why? of course my first objective was to keep the CG as low as possible and reducing (as much as possible) any increased wind resistance. Secondly, give me headroom under the annex. So far it's worked perfectly...

1st time RTT owner ..... First Camp along the Drakes Creek in The Gorge in Pa.
My whole camping life is much better now !!
1st time out to figure out what the kink's are .... Going to install LED's inside the tent .... and ordered me a Whynter 45qt plug in Fridge /Freezer .... 12 volt or 110 , only draws 65 watt's !! Next time bring along the Rubbermaid foldable table .... and start saving some cash for an Awning ...... do research on using 4 pistons to raise the platform higher once parked ....
any suggestions on the piston's ( like the redlines) would be appreciated .....
Think about many trips ...pick 1 ..... and do it !!

Thank's ..... I picked the Orange because I thought it would look good !

I have a low profile bed rack for aerodynamic's (gas mileage .... but now I'm reconsidering ? ..... I would like to have 4 redline strut's to lift the tent up higher when at camp ......The Platform would lift to the top of the cab.... Gotta do some figuring .....

Are those the standard height bed bars or the ones with the tall option selected? Trying to decide how to mount my RTT.

I really don't understand the question ? You can get bars or racks in a number of different heights and configurations ... I believe they all have advantages and dis-advantages , depending on what your needs are ... What I don't like about mine is that they sit low ... So when set up I can't stand straight up under the tent , I have to duck .... Of course I like the Low Profile for mpg's ....all in all I'm happy for now , but in the future I will get a rack that go's over my Bestop ... Everything will stay dry ...stand up straight and F the mpg's

Take a look at how Box Rocket did this on his trailer. Fairly reproducible on the truckbed - I couldn't afford to lose the bed space in my 1st Gen

Sorry, I read your mod list and you listed Relentless Bed Bars. When I went to his site, he has and option for standard bed bars or a 'tall' version. I was curious if that was the default height or the taller version of the Relentless bed bars.

We'll racer guy I believe these are just standard ... In hindsight .... I would now go with a set of SOS bars ... Where I could keep my bestop on .... My next choice would be to build my own or modify the relentless to allow me to use the bestop Over the tent ... Small mod to do , but will have to remove some powder coat .
I would go for higher bars and wash the MPG ... More advantages to higher ... Walk under , awning will be higher ( for cooking in inclement weather ) ....
The good side to lower bars , like mine , is that keeping my tailgate locked will make it difficult if not impossible to remove any of my storage boxes while I'm away from the truck

I hope this helps you make up your mind .... There are Pro's and Con's to both set ups ...I'm finding out : )

Camping just off smokey river, some friends stopped by for a drink, then we had another guest come through while we were hiking, he never touched anything, just left some scat 10 feet away from the truck

Big black bear, I'd guess around 500lbs. Our food was stored properly, he had no reason to explore our camp, just passing through
