Hey guys, did a search but didn't find what I was looking for.

Here's the deal. Wife just bought a 2014 GMC Terrain with stock system (not premium sound) Her last vehicle, a 2002 Chevy Trailblaizer had the premium sound system with a 100 watt amp. We got 4 Kicker DS65's and replaced the factory speakers. The DS65's are listed as factory upgrade for use with or without an amp. They sound 100xs better than the factory speakers using her stock HU.

My Taco has the JBL system with sub and I was just wondering if anyone has replaced just the door speakers and if there is improvement? I have always thought of JBL to be on the lower end honestly. No real complaints on the sound but if it can be improved easily with door speakers I'd be up for that.

    Thanks in advance

Personally I'd just rip the whole JBL system out and go with a new HU, amp, and speakers. It will sound a lot better. That's one of the reasons I bought the SR5 so I didn't have to deal with the underpowered not able to hear crap with the windows open stock systems in these trucks.

If that's not an option then buy a set of speakers that are efficient to replace them. You will probably end up replacing anyways but that's another option for the mean time.

I agree with Medic. I have a 2012 DCSB with JBL/Entune and hate it. Ripping it out and going with the new Pioneer HU, JL Stealthbox, Focal speakers and either JL or Alpine amp.

My reasons for that specific gear was an install I did on my GF's old Xterra where I had a Pioneer 960BT with Nav/XM/Bluetooth and one of the new at the time Alpine digital amps. Not one issue and it rocked. Polk MM's and JL W7 12 in sub.

There are so many options, kind of like picking a lift...my current dilemma

I have a 13 DC with jbl, well had. I started with amps, speakers, sub... The factory head unit is crap. I ended up replacing everything and it is much, much better without any of the factory stuff. As you take everything out you will see just how cheaply it is made.

Thanks for the replies guys, Not ready to replace it all at this point, Maybe after the lift and other goodies lol I can handle the JVC for now, just didn't know if a simple speaker upgrade would help it or not.

If I do replace it all I'm sure I'll wind up gutting the cab to DynoMat the interior as much as possible and then build up from there.

Thanks, that's my daily driver and holding the title makes it that much nicer ;)
