A friend who owns an FJ was lamenting on the demise of the FJ and ask the SLC, UT dealer mechanic if he should get a 4Runner when he's worn out the FJ. The mechanic told him Toyota is changing it to a unibody to comply with upcoming gas mileage mandate and didn't recommend it for off roading.

I did a Google search of this and the only other hit I got was on another forum T4R.ORG and the poster was also from SLC, so this rumor seems to be coming form only one dealer location.

Anyone in other cities heard this?

I don't have any additional information/rumors, but I can't say that would shock me if they did. They're going to have to do something to keep up with the fuel economy standards.
