    I have changed out my factory HU in my 2009 Tacoma 4 door.
    I am installing 2 10 inch sub's behind the seat powered by a 1600 watt Rockford Fosgate amp.
    Question is, are the RCA cables at auto zone good cables or is it really necessary to purchase the expensive ones? How much of a sound difference do the more expensive ones really give?

    Don't get cheap ones for your project. Get the best shielded ones you can with good solid gold connections and quality strands. The potential interference you can get from cheap wires is the worst you will deal with. Alternator whine, crackling, etc. all get in through cheap RCA's. Spend the money and get something good that is designed for higher power car audio installs. And don't go to Walmart.

    This is what the guy that is installing it told me it was
    OK, so he was going to use the RCA cables from auto zone, I will tell him not to and will purchase better ones

    That 600 watts. Can you list all the parts he is installing? The most you are going to get out of your two subs is 150watts max. Since this is a prime amp (low end Rockford) it's more like 100watts per sub.

    if your install guy is going to vatozone for cables, you might want to find a new install guy. Either he doesn't know what he is doing or he's trying to pull a fast one on your.

    List everything he is installing, give me more details. I'm in Az and I have a buddy who knows Safford pretty well. We might be able to find you a better place to go.

    That amp will work with those subs just fine.

    Get some good RCA's.

    Should sound pretty good. Good luck! Keep us posted on the build.

    get some good quality RCA's you can get some really good ones off Amazon. I have a set of monster (have had them for 4 years) and they are great quality.
