7 years ago when I bought my truck, the dealer offered me an extended warranty that was 100% refundable if I never use it. It was $1600 and I knew about the Troy warranties for $900 but I gambled and went with the refundable warranty. I had some problems after the standard bumper to bumper and powertrain warranty were over, but I fixed the problems myself because it wasn't expensive enough to justify losing $1600.

It was a real Toyota plantinum $0 deductible warranty but Toyota doesn't offer refunds if you don't use it at the end of the term. However the dealer signed a contract with a 3rd company (NADS) that offers the refund if their customer doesn't use the warranty so it was sort of like an insurance policy. So if the customer doesn't use the extended warranty NADS would payout the money at the end of the term. However NADS went out of business about a year ago and many dealers wouldn't do anything for their custoemrs. I wasn't so sure if I would get anything at all but my dealer did the honorable thing and refunded me the warranty out of their own pocket.

Now it's time to do some bigger mods.

Man that's great, glad to see there are still good dealerships around and willing to make good on what they sold...

Hmmmm.. I also purchased one of these refundable warranties and I'm about 500 miles away from it expiring and haven't used it yet. Hopefully it's not Nads because the dealership I purchased it at is a few states away!

You should share the dealerships name so others in your area can use an honest dealership.
