Traded in my truck after a year and half and went with the f150 ecobeast 2014 super crew xtr package. It came down to the interior space with a 5 month old. I could barely sit in front of him in the passenger seat with my knees rubbing the dash. I'm a small dude at 5 foot 9 at the best. Plus I just picked up a 20 foot holiday trailer and the tacoma struggles to pull it on the highway at 100 km when there's the slightest grade. The room in the back is huge sat in the back behind the drivers seat and there's 2 foot of knee room. In a couple years might pick up.some type of toy hauler when my son can start riding a KTM or pick up a small atv and go for a cruise.

I hate the name "Ecoboost". Just more feel good, political correctness inspired BS. Kinda like my PC monitor telling me how many trees I've saved from using it power saver mode.

My daughter is one year old now, and never had a problem with her car seat. Put it in the middle, using a latch closest from each side. SAme safety, no space issues..

Good luck with the Ford...... yeah.....

rear facing car seats in a taco are tight. I am certain your daughter is forward facing now so that probably helped a lot. Still rear facing for me and I can understand OPs concern. I am going to wait it out tho, love my taco too much.

Ya I know about the shudder these trucks experience water in the intercooler. Been researching them for a couple of weeks now. Hope they've fixed the problem but one guy is experiencing them in his Tremor which is pretty new. I know that the 2011 had the most issues. Had a guy come by my house to look at a KTM 200 and said he's driven his 150000 km and nno issues yet. I hope I'm in the same boat with mine. Didn't want to get rid of the taco but it came down to pulling a travel trailer and the added interior space and stepping on the happy pedal. I'm a little partial to blue oval after owning 2 mustangs. My girlfriend drives the truck during week as I travel too much for work so it doesn't make sense with gas. She was upset to let it go, she liked the size of it to drive and park. One day I might get back in more fuel efficient taco down the road if I don't have to pull a good size trailer.

I did rear facing as well with the taco. I didn't have any issues and I had the car seat behind the drivers seat. It was semi tight but not impossible especially for the short time the kid is rear facing. I hope he enjoys the full size truck.

Good luck man, I feel your pain about your knees being in your chest with passengers. From what I've read, most of the EcoBoost issues should be resolved by now...everyone I know with one loves it.

Make sure to get it tuned. The Ecoboost gets crazy power and gas mileage with a tune.

Lol Op, I just did the reverse. Sold 2013, FX4, Max Tow, EcoBoost and bought two Tacoma's in the same month (a 2014 & 2010 used) I liked my FX4 a lot, my two young boys give me grief every single day since it's been gone. My kids think it was way more badass of a truck than any Tacoma.

But the reality was, I wasn't impressed with the EcoBoost mpg's. My truck constantly got 12-13 ish in town, and about 17 hwy. Window sticker said it would get 16/21. The power was pretty impressive, not going to lie, no other gas truck tows as well, and all the tech on board rivals $90K luxury cars. My truck had heated and cooled leather seats, Sony sound, Leather, built in brake controller, pretty much everything but the kitchen sink.

Sad to see it gone, but I sleep better at night owning a Tacoma. I purposely dumped mine before I took a bath on re-sale, as soon as that all new aluminum bodied one comes out in a few months. Op good luck with yours.

    This was my 2013
