 Welcome to the site. If you do decide to go with a Tacoma you may want to look into adding additional D-rinds in the front of the bed.

I just read the "what do you DISLIKE about yout tacoma, and well its like your stuff works well and doesnt break down, it just put in the wrong place, like the arm rest thing. On the Nissan Its great NO road noise, arm rest is perfect its just from the trany to the wheels, we got are issues. And the ticking thing? WTF?

I have seen a few 06 or 05 tacos that go for that price range, and that's in the Chicagoland area. Trucks seem to be a little bit more expensive around here than in other cities, don't know why. So I don't see why you wouldn't be able to come across one.

cars.com should bring up all the used stuff in the area. Craigslist is a gamble for a 20k + truck IMHO.

Old titan owner here, very happy with my 3rd taco.

The other thing is the resale value on tacoma holds like superglue so, when it came time for me I decided a couple extra grand was worth picking up a new one just so I got those miles out of it... Deff check your local craigslist and cars.com ect to see what the going rate is, always check carfax first, the usual. Some areas hold 4x4 value more than others (rough winters especially), so it pays to look around your neighboring states and such too to see if you can shave enough to make the trip worth while.

Well with buying a Nissan, you have to expect transmission issues. They're known for that. I can vouch for the Tacoma. The PO didn't do any other maintenance on it other than change the oil (didn't even do that at the right times either). Everything on my truck is original and when I first got it, it was in terrible mechanical condition. Brought all my fluids and any other maintenance needed up to date and now its running smooth as silk 179k miles later. Going to be getting new suspension pretty soon to replace the worn out original suspension. I torture the truck at times, gunning it off of lights and towing/hauling heavy loads at times, but it has NEVER given out on me. I'm glad I got my Tacoma. Hope to keep it for a long time. Good luck with your decision/search. Just wanted to add my $.02 :)

EDIT: Just realized how old this post was lol

I'm wondering if your Nissan was in a flood.

Diff, transmission, u-joints - those can go bad when a vehicle sits in gnarly floodwaters for a few days.
