By adding leaves, does it increase or decrease your towing capacity? Or no effect?

More steel = higher spring rate, which essentially means the packs will be able to support more weight with the addition of an AAL.

Adding leaves does not increase towing capacity. That is determined by many other things, i.e. axle, frame, etc. and what the engineers designed the truck to tow. Adding leaves will reduce the squat the stock leaves exhibit when under a load.

Added leafs can help keep the truck level when towing heavier loads. They can also help with control and trailer sway to some degree by allowing you to bias a bit more weight on the tongue.

But, your truck will probably ride a bit stiffer. Most seem to like air bags to equalize the load and they won't affect ride when unloaded. Of course, they are more expensive. Everything is a trade off.

This brings back horrible memories for me! I was loading our company Bobcat on the our trailer, trailer was hooked to a Chevrolet 2500 4x4. It was all sitting, pointed slightly down a hill. As soon as all the weight of the skid steer made it on the trailer the rear of the truck lifted off the ground just like this! Down the hill the whole shootin match went with me riding in the Bobcat on the back of the trailer! Fortunately there was a 90's model Chevy Cavalier at the bottom to stop me!! Lol. Done a little damage but no one was injured. Lesson learned, i have loaded a Bobcat 1000 times but that one time... well i pooped a little.:anonymous:

Great Story! Holy crap that's good. Mine was far less exciting. When I was a kid, I was asked to move a forklift, I didn't know they meant to drive it all the way to the new shop. I proudly tried to load it on a utility trailer that "looked big enough". Needless to say, even little forklifts are heavier than they look. I just crushed the ramp and broke through the rear of the trailer with a thud.

Yeah thats a funny part too. It was beat up so bad already you really didnt notice my truck had busted the headlight and crunched the fender. It was a dry wall guy working at the house we were working at. I went and told him what had happened, he comes out and looks at it and says "I aint worried about that piece of shit." Lol, so it worked out pretty well.:D
