    Hello All,

The old lady and myself have been thinking about a change of pace from Arizona. We both enjoy cooler weather and don't mind the cold. We enjoy outdoor activities both summer and winter.

This is extremely early in the process BUT something I would like to get some ideas about long before the time could come.

One thing I really would like to have around is a lake; I enjoy tubing, wakeboarding and spending time on the lake---so this is kind of an important factor. Here in AZ...boating season is basically year round!

Thanks in advance for all the insight!

Golden has everything you want except a lake. You'll be very disappointed by the lakes around Denver.

How far away is a decent lake?

About a hour. Pueblo, ft Collins, or one of the lakes out east.

Chatfield Reservoir is just a 10-15 minute drive down the highway from golden too but it kinda sucks since its so small and crowded on weekends.

I have a son who's a sophomore at Mines. My wife and I carefully considered buying a place for him to live in up there. After doing our due diligence, we determined that Golden is (and has been for a few years now) in a housing bubble. There is just no other way to describe the ridiculous prices up there for the aging housing inventory.

Don't take my word for it, but DO make sure you do your own thorough investigation. Things that sold for two hundred last year are back on the market twelve months later for three...and they sell in a day or two. Unsustainable.

The town's code enforcement is extremely lax, with many homes falling into disrepair and each and every weekend the town is overrun by tourists, tubers and loud Harleys cruising up and down the streets.

Personally, I can't imagine living there, but there's a seat for every butt, as they say.

    Good luck!

I guess this calls for an extended visit lol

My old lady and I have been doing home research and the pricing seems reasonable. Have not seen the bubble in affect yet being that we have searched little as of now. Then again, in a year plus lots of things can change.

Being that its been 10 years since I have last been there...it would be a great idea to take a long trip back to check the area out. Was not aware of it being a large tourist attraction and POI for bikers.

Im ok with an hour drive to a decent lake! If its worthwhile lol

i live in lakewood, and work in golden. Golden is exceptionally busy and popular place in the summer.... mtn biking and kayaking and motorcycles are huge. it is a college town, but its mines. not a huge party school, lots of brainiacs that like video games lol.... plus side to golden is how close u are to numerous highways or roads into the mtns. right in your back yard... my boss lives in golden , north side on the back side of table mtn. much different then living IN town....

Im fine with suggestions to great surrounding area's, do not have to be right in town. I will take a look into Lakewood and google other area's nearby.

I just got into mtn biking but being 110 here now makes it difficult lol, I would love to get into some mountain trails with greenery EVERYWHERE!!!
