2000 tacoma overheating

    water pump went bad- changed water pump/thermostat, ran good for 2 weeks started overheating. changed thermostat again thinking maybe faulty. ran short distance upper/lower hoses hot, still overheating, radiator boiling! confused! could new water pump be bad? oil clean, no moisture out of exhaust

    Sounds like a blockage somewhere

    Yep, radiator is plugged, hoses top & bottom hot = Nothings getting thru.....or at least not enough is...

    Also test or replace the radiator cap. A cap bad will not allow the system to pressurize which raises the boiling point. Bad cap, low boiling point. Overheats.

    O.K back again. still overheating, flushed radiator, replaced fan clutch, hoses, and radiator cap. drove short distance and overheating. tore down again thought water pump bad, all looks good. ???

    Still sounds like radiator to me.
    Aftermarket is what, $100?
    If anyone ever put a leak stop in that truck, the rad could be stopped up enough and flushing won't clean it out.
    Rad is next step.

    Front dome light added,light reminder added,door chime mod, added 2nd gen 4runner headrests,grey wire mod, 2lo mod, more later.
    Make sure your heater core valve is open when your bleeding the coolant system otherwise it can airlock and the coolant won't circulate.
