PrInSu Design Studio Roof Racks BS Thread

mine will have this if I can ever get to working on it...

 

Trying to determine how much lower, overall, the bottom of the RTT will ride in relation to the cap roof. I think that this has already been discussed in this thread, so I will do a little digging. Right now it's like six inches.

Also, I use a Harken Hoister to store the RTT, so the Caprack would just stay attached to the RTT in my case. Not sure how easy it is to get in there and fasten those twelve bolts with the tent attached to the rack.

 

Here are some pictures of my toprac on a snugtop xtravision. the measurements are in the middle rear and side. Also a picture of how they are mounted.

Don't mind the dirtiness. I hauled some steel the other day that was remnants and covered in oil and surface rust. As far as removing the little bolts to leave the rack and RTT connected and remove both from the truck it would be tight if not impossible. The rear and front you could do, but the middle I don't think would work.

 

Oh. Ok. So probably better to simply remove the RTT from the rack, hoist it up and then either leave the rack on permanently or just remove it separately.

 

So you could add a fourth mounting tab on each side to further distribute the weight in the track?

 

Sure can. I got a request the other day to do so on a long bed topper rack.

Would getting the Yakima tracks be better then drilling holes straight into the shell and having to make shims to space the rack?

 

Sorry if this info is already in here somewhere, just didn't see it in my quick search, what is current delivery time at? I'm looking at a rack for a double cab and topper, both powder coated. 4-6 weeks after cash has changed hands? Just trying to plan out a few extra mods before hunting season rolls around

Hmm...yeah, now that I zoom in closer, ur right. They seem to be. Optical illusion.

 

I have Zach's cab top rails too but so far I've just installed the cap rails. Still have the OEM roof rack on.

Still trying to decide on what to use for cross rails.

 

That looks to be a Leer 100xq. Did you have to remove any of the track mounting hardware in order to install the t-slot nuts for your new side rails?

First real use of the racks this last weekend in the Sierra Mountains.





Mounted the Hi-Lift and strapped the spare tire with my Y strap using the tie down hardware that was provided with the racks.

 

How did you mount it to the camper shell? Like drill holes and used spacers or roof rails
