If someone wanted the shackles that bad, they could just cut your nice synthetic line and have them. Suppose it makes sense for rattling though. Maybe you can find some type of extenstion line and tension them that way, so you have less of your synthetic exposed?

So do y'all recommend pulling the line all the way in to the hook? Or just putting the hook on 1 shackle and tensioning it there?

Thank you Sirs. Have a set on the way. God I love Amazon Prime. That's my go to source for Tacoma parts, and damn near everything else.

I got my winch for free because the wires were run with no protection like many here have been doing. It shorted out and fried the motor - luckily it did not burn down the guys truck.

I recommend anything made for protecting wire, but I use this because it dries out quickly:

Where the wire runs over/on/next to/through sharp metal I zip tie a small section of this over the above:

For rattling I put rubber rings on my shackle pin in between the shackle and the recovery points. Makes is so they don't swing unless you move them by hand. Cheap and effective.

Anyone found any kind of stick on wire loom to route wires? Mine are currently duct taped into place

Sorry, but what does this do? Is this just a way to keep the wire from touching the metal if the insulation wears through?

No, it keeps the insulation from ever getting worn so it never shorts out and causes a fire or short.

Intact insulation is key and vibration is the enemy.

Large cables like these do not need direct contact with metal to short as is the case with the winch I got for free. The cable got sliced exposing the wire at some point and even though the cable was 1-2" away from anything at some point it found a conductor to create the short (my guess is water got to it).
