Transmission bumping while stopped.

I've searched around a bit and read about the yoke problem. But, i think my issue is a little diffrent. The truck is a 06 TRD Sport Prerunner DC. Sometimes when I'm at stop lights. The truck clunks a little. It happens no matter how i stop. Sometimes it takes several seconds after stopping before it happens. It almost feels like the torque converter is reengaging even when stopped. any thoughts on this one?

 

I have the same prob seth. If it is just the lerch after a stop you are talking about, thats normal. The truck is just shifting down to first gear, But if you are feeling a "clunk" in your drive line on top of the lerch, I am dealing with the same thing. Im deployed right now. Will be home in two months and I am going to try a bunch of stuff to fix it. New leafs, one peice DS, shim axle.... maybe trac bars. I will let you know what works for me.

 

If you have an Automatic.... it's most likely because of the transmission downshifting.

Do a search for the 'automatic lurch' or 'lurch'. It's normal.

My mother-in-laws Grand Cherokee does it.

I also have the bump at a stop problem, & something else that is bugging me, when I slow down to 8-10 mph to turn a corner, it downshifts to 1st gear, but that speed is right where it shifts into 2nd gear, so when I step on the gas, I get a slight hesitation like it is slipping before it shifts into 2nd. Is that normal? Do I just need to take turns at 12mph like I'm doing now, or is there an adjustment they can do on the downshift to keep it in 2nd gear at lower speeds?

 

I don't think there's anything they can do that they'll even care to deal with. I think somewhere between the programming and the throttle-by-wire, the overall input & output of data isn't fast enough (or something like that).

Do some experimenting....take notice to how hard or soft you put the gas on. My truck does the same thing especially when I'm harder on the gas and then let off a bit and back on a bit. I think the throttle-by-wire stuff messes it all up.
