Last night my diff blew up in the middle of Kansas. The shop I took it to said the locker and ring gears are destroyed. We found a new rear housing assembly to replace mine to get me home but it is not a locked one. I'm keeping my old one and was curious is it worth rebuilding and replacing the non locker one or should I just sell it?

Complete OME kit w/ 881's and dakars. All-Pro Sliders, CB, HAM Radio and various other minor stuff.
It all depends on what you did. Did you lose a gear tooth, pinion or carrier bearing? Is there damage to the carrier or locker?

did you ever use the locker? if not, i guess just leave it. as remember, your elocker housing is different than a normal non locker housing.

The new rear end may not have the same gear ratio as the front, so don't put it in 4x4 until they match.

Did he replace the entire housing/differential with an 8.4-inch unit?
