I'm looking at Duratracs and some of the sizes and ply ratings are throwing me off. http://www.treaddepot.com/group/wdtr.html

    255/75R17
    265/70R17
    LT265/70R17 (C -6 ply)

At the top is states "All Wrangler Duratracs are ply rated, ensuring they can withstand heavy off road punishment. Studdable for enhanced winter traction."

I don't see ply ratings for the Non LT, but they don't say P either. Are these P tires? I thought all duratracs were LT. I'm considering the 255/75/17. 32" tire and doesn't weigh that much. Only $182 a tire and free shipping.

I'm trying to understand this 500b/b rating and how it compares to p or lt. Can someone shed a little more light?

Those ratings are given by the manufacturer. There is no official entity that controls this. When a tire manufacturer states a rating, you are relying on their reputation and not much more. It's best to use this information as one piece in the whole puzzle when trying to decide what's best for you. Do your homework and I'm sure you will find a good fit...
