    A little help please.

I did a search but nothing specific to my problem or at least I don't think so.

Turned my A/C on today and after about 5 seconds I could hear this loud and horrible squealing coming from under the hood. After about 5 to 10 seconds of squealing it stops and the A/C light starts to flash.

Any thoughts as to what this might be? Clutch, compressor, etc? And how much this will cost me?

Belt may be shot. If not the clutch is going to be the next issue most likely.

You are looking around 300$ for the compressor/clutch. I'm not sure if the clutch can be replaced without doing the compressor.

Thanks man. I am assuming a belt is cheaper to replace so I'll hope for that.

Just an update if anyone cares. After a few weeks of disgustingly hot weather I got my A/C fixed. It was totally the compressor that quite on me.

The dealership wanted around $2000.00 to fix it. After much research I was able to order the compressor myself and get a buddy of mine to install it.

All said and done $520.00. Better than letting the dealership take my hard earned money.
