So I'm wanting to get a 3in lift and run 285s on my 09 4x4. I've been looking at the OME, a procomp, and some of the bilstein lifts. I'm not a huge fan of adjustable lifts so I'm hesitant on the bilstein. I see people mention that the ome can get a sag and I ain't trying to lose any lift. The procomp I guess I would have to order a diff drop extra as they don't provide one? Most places seem to recommend a drop. And lastly, I see a few people discussing the UCA issue. How big of a deal is this. Just looking for some input and I figure the best advice is from people running them. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Most on here would advise on getting UCA's when going over 2.5". Most would also advise to not get a diff drop, could hurt more than they help. On the topic of lifts, everyone has different opinions but OME is a popular one on here. Just depends on what you want. I have Toytec with 5100 on the front amd Dakars in the rear.

Well I've seen where they say off-road wise the drop will hurt your clearance. I don't plan on doing much off-roading and I'd like to take care of the cv joints. On the topic of UCAs, what is the best to get for the money. I want to lift my truck right but also not spend a crap ton of money.

Is the uca something that needs to be done immediately or will they make it until I can squeeze out some money to buy a set? And for just riding around, the diff drop is recommended? Any input on the particular brand of lifts?

What model Tacoma do you have? 1st or 2nd gen? The diff drop for the 2nd gen is NOT recommended.

If you lift over 2.5 inches there is about a 50% chance you will need new UCAs to get reasonable alignmnet specs. So alot of people just get them. If your truly not going to be wheeling you can get the diff drop but there is little benifit on the second gen. As for lifts. I recomend the following,

I have this with the dakar leaf pack and Tubular Icon ucas

I've been looking at that ome lift, just concerned if it may sag in the future and cause rubbing, so the drop is not a big deal on the 2nd gen? I did not know that but all my previous tacomas have been 1st gen. So the uca will just give me some alignment grief, so it's something to not ignore but doesn't have to be the same day the lift goes on? But the ome lift is looking like a solid kit for around what I would like to spend

You could get away with a poor alignment for awhile. It will just be a strain on your tires. I had a three inch lift with stock ucas and I got decent alignment numbers. All suspension will sag over time. I know many people running the OME with no sag issues and one of my friends has over 100,000 miles on the lift and I am running there dakar leaf pack in the rear and its awesome.

You'll need to get an alignment after your lift whether you go with new UCA's or not. Then if you decide to put in UCA's you'll need another alignment. Just something to consider.

Of course, you can get a lifetime alignment at Firestone for less than the cost of two alignments...
