I just replaced my right cv axle and now my truck is pulling to the left. I took it and got it aligned and it is still pulling. it did not pull at all before. what could be the issue?

I told the mechanic everything I had done to it. and he looked over it very good. ( he does work for our company ) he checked the alignment did minor adjustments to it. and yes he did show me the alignment numbers. all looked good. the only thing I took apart was the 2 lower bolts to let the hub swing out of the way. could it be the wrong shaft?

Was it an OEM cv or aftermarket replacement?

Well I mean if it fit I don't see that causing an alignment issue. I replaced an axle once temporarily with a Cardone once. If the alignment is correct and everything is assembled correctly I can't think of any other reason. Maybe somebody else will chime in..

I know this doesn't make any sense to me either but I am going to re boot my OEM shaft and re install it and I will post back when I get it done. common sense tells me if that is the only thing that was changed then if I change it back it should fix it. plus I would rather have the OEM shaft anyway.

    Thanks for the input,

When changing out the original axle , did you match up the new axle with the original ?
Was the plunging depth the same on the inboard CV ?
When aftermaket manufacturers put the axles together , there is a chance they dont compensate for plunging depth and set the axle boot in the wrong position .
When this happens , there is a possibilty that the replacement axle may be too long .
Ive have seen this countless times with aftermarket axles

I just replaced both boots on my 2012 Tacoma and the dealer can't get mine to stop leaking from the clamps either. All Toyota parts too.

I did lay them side by side but didn't measure. I just got the new boots put on my original CV and when I get the replacement shaft out I plan to measure it then. either way I'm putting the OEM shaft back in. everyone I talk to says that the shaft is not the problem but I think it is, because that is the only thing different. it didn't pull left before and now it is. I'm thinking your right gearcruncher. I will know shortly, may get MY shaft back in tonight if I have time this eve.

Well, The dealer completed the repair last night since they are open to 10 pm and they found that the boot had come loose so they repacked it and installed a new clamp…..

I was just up under there and all looks good at the moment no more grease as they cleaned it up really well.

Well, I just finished installing my original CV shaft and guess what? It steers straight as an arrow. NO More pulling left. I did pay 70.00 for an alignment I didn't need. But happy my Tacoma is back to normal. For all who read this, I would suggest getting your CV rebuilt locally. I will be from now on.
    Thanks for all the comments.

When CV axles are incorrectly built , they basicly turn into a pneumatic piston . Aftermarket CV axles need to be matched up perfectly to the one you are replacing . This includes compensating for inboard CV travel . If you mount the small end of the boot too far out on the center axle shaft , its going to create force on the wheel bearing and differential axle housing essentially being too long .
Combine the above condition with an inproper burp procedure and its a fail fail situation .
