    Hey guys,

Need to put my mind at ease....or make it spin. I have spent hours reading over this forum for answers.

Just ordered a set of complete 3rds ( arb rear ) from ECGS ( awesome to deal with BTW ) .

Truck is a 2013 trd sport 6 speed manual, bamf sliders, king coilovers, 285/75r16 duratracs, leer topper, cbi rear swing out and soon be be pulling a custom built trailer ( around 1500lbs MAX )

Question is.... I ordered 4.10:1 ratio. I dont drive the truck much around town as it is not my DD. But I do ALOT of highway driving, mixed with forestry roads to get to back country camp spots etc. Did I order the correct gear ratio for my needs? Or should I have gone to a 4.56?

With all the calculators I have used, the 4.10 will put me back closest to factory rpm on the hwy. But with all the added weight I have I think the 4.56 may be a better choice.

Need a quick answer, since these are already ordered. I would need to get them changed first thing in the AM.

You will be fine with 4.10's. Just a schoche taller than stock, but it will be ok. 4.30 would be closer to stock, but I don't believe those are available for the front yet. 4.56 would be lower, but mileage would suffer. For highway gears, towing a light trailer, those are perfect. Besides, go measure your tires. You would be surprised how much smaller they actually are than what is on the sidewall...that changes the math a little in your favor. I bet your speedo will be off by one or two KPH, but not enough to worry about.

Thanks for the quick reply. Please pardon my long day ignorance, just to make my brain work, when you say " For highway gears, towing a light trailer, those are perfect" You're relating to my choice of 4.10? My eyes are bleeding from all the reading, and my brain hurts

There seems to be ALOT of opinions on here 4.10 vs 4.56. And I do not wheel this thing like some do.

Seems like the more avid wheeler would prefer the 4.56 and the Highway / overland dorks would prefer a 4.10 for the best of both worlds.. ie Closely restores factory power but does not sacrifice mpg lost by high engine rpms ( although engine is lugging less )

I ran that size tire with 3.73's for a long time. 4.10 will be perfect for what you do. Hell, I ran 3.73's with 37's for a couple days while waiting on ECGS diffs to come in. I got to work on time. Don't sweat it, you made the right choice with 4.10's. You would be unhappy with 4.56's in my opinion.

Yes. I have used this one as well as the Grimm keeper one. The Grimmjeeper one is great, and that is where i find that my rpm's with stock vs current tire size will be closest. Sure the tw calc numbers are close. And it says 4.11 and 4.56 are both " stock " ratios. With 4.56 being over 3000 rpm on the hwy. And being that I drive mainly at hwy speeds, over 3000rpm for 12 hours would suck.

Sticking with 4.10's. 4.56 would be over kill. And I will NEVER change my tire size.
