Thanks! I'll probably give him a call tomorrow and see if I can get a quote.

Ask for Shawn or Mike but preferably Shawn. Tell him Jim that used to work for him told you to call it might help with the price.

Well, I ended up going to Cannon Tire Factory in Ruidoso. All of the guys there were really nice and helpful. I thought they had done a good job until I got back to Carlsbad and realized I had a blown CV boot. I'm used to blowing CV boots, after blowing a few in my old 4Runner, it was definitely a bigger problem on those older IFS trucks than it seems to be on the 2nd gen Tacomas. I just figured it was the CV going bad and not the shop's fault. Well I ended up being wrong. When I was driving today I heard a terrible clunk coming from the driver's side with the bad CV boot. When I got out and looked at it, I found out what had caused the problem. The shop didn't tighten the bolt on the sway bar, causing the sway bar link to come loose and then hitting the half shaft, causing the CV boot to come unclamped. I called Cannon Tire this afternoon and told them the problem. They offered to make everything right, and I should be headed back out there sometime next week. It's just frustrating because it's over a two hour drive out there. I specifically went to this shop because I had heard good things about them, but this whole situation just leaves me frustrated. Now for pictures:

As long as they fix it and make everything right for free it should lessen the hurt alittle. And maybe you should take this as a sign to remove the sway bar ;)

That sucks. I would have left the sway bar off. Don't really need it with stiffer springs. Plus it flexes better and takes bumps a little smoother.

The guys at the shop are really helpful and I'm happy that they're willing to make it right. I've considered taking the sway bar off, and I definitely will for the drive out there, just so the links don't hit anything else. I just drive a decent amount on the highway and have heard mixed reviews. If I like it while it's off, I'll just leave it off in the end. I guess the Tacoma gods are trying to tell me something haha.
