Similar experience here. Owned my '03 Silverado 4x4 for 11 years, only 25k miles, well-maintained & mint condition "unless" you looked underneath. Everything rusting away, including the brake lines which caused me to lose my brakes unexpectedly. No way was I going to give them my money again!!

I don't support people being paid $60/hr to pull a lever and then go get high and drunk on their lunch break...

Sorry to here about it. 3 Chevy's in my life never made it past 80k without significant maintenance expenditures (1991 lumina, 2003 silverado, 2002 blazer). It was mostly transmission and motor problems with all of them, but rust/brakes were also issues with the Lumina and Blazer. I will never go back, the company has been on life support for a long time, and in my opinion should have been left to fail before they were bailed out!

    Either way good luck!

I was thinking about the first Tiburon, those were godawful ugly. Your pic is the later model.

I'm new to tacomaworld ,my first post will be here. I have seen the inner workings of many Chevy motors over the past 50 years,The main reason ,I was having to fix them.
I would say when you lay a Toyota motor side by side with a Chevy, having them both disassembled ,you can visualy see the the quality favors Toyota. If drive train problems concern you stay with Toyota,if its ride comfort ,suspension, looks maybe Chevy.

Best of luck op on the new rig. My dad's 03' silverado is slowly going down hill quickly (original owner since new) Several distributor caps, rotors, plug wires, leaks, cluster failures, brake issues, and interior falling to pieces makes me glad to rant about my toyota :p plus mine never gets stuck or stranded. I also love how more of my truck is made in the USA than his! Kills me my Jap truck gives more American jobs than his "chevy"

140,000 miles on my 2004 Silverado with zero issues and it still had the original brakes. 45,000 on my 2011 Tundra with zero issues, but decided to downsize for a new 2014 Tacoma and I love it so far. You must a bought a lemon!

you are not alone, my never off the road 11 trd access cab taco had 3 auto trannies for convertor clutch lock up issues, 2 sets of rear springs,2 drive shafts, shook the truck bad at 40 mph up after lockup. frame was already heavy rusted by 26k and 3 years, i'm keeping my 02 tundra as my shop truck but now drive a f350 fx4 swb sc psd . 10k only trip to the dealer was for a free oil change

hear the ecoboost post, want a f150 go with the 5.0 coyote v8, same mpg's no problems

best wishes with the new chevy man, hope you got a good one.

You have to be lying, autos never break.

In all honesty there's a chance with any manufacture that something may break. In the end you're just playing odds. Make the best choice that fits you and take care of it well.

i dropped my chevy for my Tacoma, the last straw was when for no reason at all my intake manifold cracked. Just driving down the highway, truck cut power, and threw 6 codes.....

Good luck, i do miss the full size sometimes.
