Tacoma radio giving me sirius headache (lol)

Alright, here is the deal. First post here, been around a little bit reading and can't find the info I need.

I bought a used DCSB TRDOR, 2011 model with 8k miles. Its a nice truck. When i test drove it, I saw a SAT button on the radio, so I assumed it had SAT. (My 2007 wrangler that i traded in had a sat radio!) SOOOO I thought nothing of it, thought it would be a simple call and activate. I was wrong. My truck is satellite capable, not satellite ready. I quoted getting the tuner I need, and it was $400 everywhere I looked. I decided to go aftermarket instead. I bought a Clarion

$65 NX501 Enhanced OBD II Auto Code Reader, Car Diagnostic Scan Tool Vehicle Check Engine Light Analyzer for All OBDII Vehicles After 1996

NX501, install kit, SiriusXM universal tuner, wiring, steering wheel controls and got to work. Now it turns out I ordered the wrong Sirius tuner. My new Clarion is SIRIUS ready, not SIRIUSXM ready. The tuner I need for this beast? $300!?!?!

I need an SC-C1 tuner, which they dont make anymore, so they are all outrageously priced. Any suggestions? Is there an adapter to make a universal kit fit this radio? Or is my only option a $300 tuner on top of a $550 radio? Please help, as I am getting pretty sad about all this! All I wanted was some damn satellite radio!

 

Tough situation. I would keep an eye on ebay (set an alert so it will email you when something matching your description comes up for sale). I have lifetime Sirius with online listening, but listen to Pandora more now because 1. Streaming to Tmobile no longer counts as data from my plan and 2. I prefer the music control.

How much to do you care about sound quality? If you are stock might as well just get a plug n' play kit for Sat radio and be done with it. Sat radio quality is decent so you shouldn't hear the difference much unless you are an audiophile.

 

I ended up taking all the aftermarket HU out. I am going to suck it up and pay the 400 dollars for the factory tuner. I am also going to purchase an amp, and better door speakers and pay someone to hook all that up.
