Electrical guys, need a hand with this one.
Replaced battery yesterday with Diehard Platinum 34M
The posts are a little far back because of height, so I made an extended "bus bar" to reach, used a piece 3/16x3/4 flat bar I had.
Once everything was connected, started truck, her idle was so low she kept stalling unless I gave it gas.
Either the ECU reset is causing low idle, or that piece of flat bar isn't conducting good enough, might swap it for a piece of aluminum.
No CEL or battery light though, so I'm thinking it's just because of ECU reset ???

After I replaced my battery (with the same one - not that it matters) it took the ECU a few trips to find the correct idle again. Mine was on the high side though.

After cleaning the battery terminals on Pearly, the idle was around 900 RPM on the first start. Engine was cold. Drove it to work and it's been normal since.

    Normal.
    Different vehicles react differently.
My wife's Rav4 will stall when she comes to a stop for the first couple of hours if she doesn't keep her foot on the gas.

Usually, it's a sign that the throttle body needs to be cleaned, because after pulling the battery, the ECU "goes home" on the butterfly trims, which assumes they are clean. As they get dirty, you don't notice the change because as the ECU detects a low idle, it gradually opens the plate. When you kill power to the ECU, it loses reference.

But in her case, it's done it from when it was new... she's just got a funky ECU.

I wouldn't say stalling is normal, but thats just me. Clean your battery terminals and connections and you should be good. Happened to me before. Just cleaned up the connections and back to normal. Let me know if that works.

Yep, that did the trick..... I should've cleaned it up before installing... I hit the area where the rings are making contact with some sandpaper, started it up, all is well

Pics of my ghetto extension bar, lol... temporary until I upgrade my cabling

That is interesting, I never thought about something like that, but it makes sense only a small amount of current would be needed to keep the ECU temporary memory storage active.

But if I didn't have an "always hot" receptacle and I had to turn the accessory switch ON to use it, I would make sure every single item in the vehicle was off, except for that one before disconnecting the battery.

Not sure how safe it would be for the ECU even then.

You are correct about the "always hot" receptacles and the low parasitic current draw. I have to turn the ignition switch to the Accessory position and turn off all of the accessories before using the memory saver. As an alternative, I sometimes connect a second 12 VDC battery (or power source) in parallel and temporarily insulate the positive battery lead to keep it from shorting to ground. Enabling the immobilizer can be a very expensive dealer proposition unless you know how to disable it.

I knew it was that. Well glad it worked.
