I finally upgraded my factory Dunlops on my 07 to BFGs Rugged Terrain and I'm not really happy with the bumpy ride. They came out of the shop at 40psi which I think is ok. They look great and all I'm just not thrilled with the performance. Anyone else made this switch and found a solution without switching tires?

I don't have the same tires as you but anything below 5mph and I can feel every lug in the tire. Mine are MT tires though and I didn't expect any less.

Maybe you can try lowering the PSI a tad bit

Lt tires are usually stiffer than the p rated tires

    They are p265/65/r17 t/a 110t 50k. I think max load is 1060 with max psi of 45.

The max psi rating for my Duratrac load C is 50psi but I keep them around mid 30s. They ride rough when I air them up above 40psi.

what does your door tire pressure sticker read. that's is where I would start, then take chalk run 3 lines across the thread inside to out side drive it several times and raise or drop the pressure till the line wears fully off, from there keep your air at the level.. my own I personally wound up at 30 front and rear and have a fairly soft ride with good for a truck handling

I personally like running fairly high pressure in all my vehicles(avg approx. 40 psi), but if you're looking for a smoother ride(or what's "correct"), 30-35 may work better for you...

You should run stock tire pressure, and if the are still bumpy and get more bumpy with speed have the balance checked.

You will be much happier dropping the psi to 28-30 psi, especially for DD with an unloaded bed.

Same here. I learned the hard way driving across bridges in the Rockies bouncing around like crazy over the expansion joints @ 40 psi.

This is the proper way to find the optimum pressure for your tires for best wear.

With stock pressure in them, as previously stated, if they still thump and get worse as the speed increases, get the balance checked.

My Dad had trouble with a new set of tires, the shop replaced them and(re) balanced several times, he even took them to a specialty shop and had the rims checked. Finally had to switch to a different tire, must have been a bad batch off the assembly line.

I have the same tires in 265/70/17.
Lightly loaded the truck rides rough at 36psi - never tried 40psi.
    At 30psi, it rides fine.

Thanks for the input everyone. I will air-down to 30psi tonight after work and see what happens. Sidewalls though feel so soft in the corners that it feels like the tire is going to slip right off the rim, or fold over on itself. Hope this works out.

I've followed all recommendations and have been riding at 30 psi and my final assessment is that these tires are crap. Crap crap crap. 7 year old Dunlop's feel better on the road than this $800 waste of money. Doubt they will replace at this point but I'm going back Wednesday to find out.
