Just joined up to ask questions and get some info on Tacos. Been lurking for a while but thought I would join! Just moved to SOCAL for military duty and looking into doing some off-road/adventure stuff :D

Tacoma = best decision ever. However we are all a little biased. But even my long bed trd sport is kick ass without a locker. ype6yjyg_719f72ba7c46bdcfda35c757010f6adf876888b4.jpg

Love my 2014, started with USAA buying service as a baseline for price and then sent a email to a number of dealers in my area to let them compete over my business.

As far as which Tacoma to buy, I am fond of the TRD Sport DCLB 4x4 model. I will use the 6' box more than I need the extra Off Road features of the short bed model.

Thanks for the welcome messages and the military support! I think this is the first forum I've joined that people actually welcome others.

I'm looking to get a DCSB with the 4x4. As far as packages I do get confused building a truck on the Toyota website since there are so many different options. The TRD Off-road package looks like the one to get, since I want to get into camping/kayaking/mountain stuff.

Is there a section of the forum that compares the different packages you can get?

    Yes, welcome.

Got my 2014 DCSB a week ago today. One thing I would highly recommend is to visit a dealer and DRIVE them. Plain, SR5, Off Road, Sport, Limited as you've noticed encompass a shit load of options. It would be great if Toyota.com let you do side-by-side comparisons.

But I'll tell you I am ever so glad the sales guy I dealt with insisted that I take back-to-back test drives with an SR5, an Off Road, and a Sport. I did think the Off Road would be bouncier than it really was, but to me the Sport had by far the best feel. Its so nice and tight/stiff with out being jarring.

Its getting late in the year, get to a dealer and take some test drives before he's all sold out and you either have to "settle" for something or wait for a '15.

Thanks for the advice! I do need to get out and start test driving!
