Jumping into the shallow end and need some floaties..

    Sup friends. New to the forums here and relatively new to Tacoma ownership. I recently bought a 2004 TRD and need to replace both CV axles. No big deal there, already got them out (thanks to these forums) but while I had the truck up on the jacks I figured, what the hell, might as well go through the front suspension and rebuild it. The trucks got 140k miles on it and it looks like the Camburg upper uni-balls has seen better days, most of the bushings are cracked or just looking pretty shitty in general , and there’s a ton of grease everywhere it shouldn’t be. Who knows how much wheeling this thing has seen over the last 125k.

    Now I’m more of a shade-weed mechanic than shade-tree if you know what I mean, but I can use google, know how to read, and getting those CVs out gave my confidence a shot in the arm. I can search each task pretty easily but there’s not really a comprehensive thread addressing what I’m trying to accomplish. So a couple of questions:
    1. What’s the best way to tackle this? Is there a general order to go about things?
    2. There’s a set of ICON/DR 2.5 coilovers that appear to be in pretty decent shape. I don’t really have any noticeable suspension issues but would it be worth it to pull them out to have tested/rebuilt anyway?
    3. Anyone have any general tips or other helpful tidbits to be aware of before I get myself up to the neck in grease and random bolts?

    So for rebuilding the UCAs, you can go two routes depending on what really needs to be replaced. A lot of the time, all you need to do is replace the bushings and uniballs. However, if you need/want to go ahead and rebuild the whole UCA, I suggest you go for our full UCA Uniball and Hardware Kit. That kit includes EVERYTHING you would need to replace all the components in the UCA. For about $320 you get all the bushings and sleeves, spacers, snaprings, washers and uniballs.
