Okay get ready for a long post.

    Update:

I left off last trying to get the chrome off the grill surround. It took a couple of days to finally achieve the final product and it is more of a job than I was expecting so if you plan on doing this, it will be a multi day job. I tried this stuff called Super Clean Tough Task which claimed to eat away chrome, WRONG!!!!!! I let it soak for 2.5 hours and gave up.

    DO NOT USE

I tried using just a putty knife and hand peeling and it wasn't successful. The best plan of action was the pressure washer. Unfortunately both of our craftsman pressure washers decided to give out  so I had to drive to the local car wash and use a cheap underpowered pressure washer but it still got the job done!

    IMG_20140717_174629655_8845dde28a81aff6cfb7044b2e91c3ff0659ca6b.jpg

The strategy I used that seemed to work was to put the nozzles directly onto the edge of the chrome that is peeling and work back and forth to get it to peel and it will kind of look like this (don't worry the pressure washer didn't even scratch the plastic!)

    IMG_20140716_192410543_HDR_71d677494f9a81c77a7581e42499eb8c9e23dd43.jpg

Then once the time ran out, I peeled everything that was up and able to be peeled and repeated the process over and over. Note: I was also spraying the chrome with the prep spray and letting it soak every now and then and it seemed to thin the chrome in some spots but I am not completely certain if it helped or not. Then on the skinny parts of the grill surround, I was able to create like a pocket of water under the chrome by putting the nozzles directly next to the edge of the chrome. Then using the back and forth motion, the pressure went all the way down breaking the seal as shown below

Then, using a razor blade, I cut down the middle of the pocket and peeled to the edges. This was my experience and it took lots of time but it was well worth it :) And for the hard spots I used a razor blade and sand paper!

This is the thread I used as a guide to color match: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/320939-diy-chrome-colormatch.html

    Here was the end result:

Then I finally saw the light and decided to delete the bull bar! :D Also, I am getting anxious for my bumper! It will be shipped this coming Friday :going crazy:

I can now take pictures from the side and not look ugly because of the bull bar! And now all that is left is that ugly chrome bumper and then I will be all blacked out  QUESTION: Should I spray it with berliner? I plan to spray the hybrid bumper I am getting and my stock skid plate.
