So this morning I was on my way to work, and as I slow down when coming to a stop light, my truck died. I believe I was all the way down in first gear once it died, but not completely sure. I rolled to a stop, put it in park, and it took a few seconds to get it started, and that was it, all was good. When the truck died, my check engine light, oil light, and battery light came on, but after I restarted my truck, all the warning lights were off.

Now, this has happened twice before, both times I was at a complete stop idling, and my truck just died. Of course one of the times was in the middle of rush hour on I-20 with bumper to bumper traffic.. Just like this time, I turned it right back on and it was fine for weeks.

I have researched it a bit and I've seen to clean the fuel filter or clean the throttle body. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Where does the truck idle when in not in gear? Should be around 700-750 rpm.

If yours idles much lower than that I would recommend that you remove and clean the throttle body and the IAC. While you're at it you might as well clean the mass air meter and wipe out as much of the intake manifold as you can.

Be sure to use throttle body cleaner and not brake cleaner and don't be surprised if your truck idles a little higher for the first few miles after cleaning while the computer adjusts. Mine noramlly idles around 1100-1200 after a cleaning before it learns again.

This! Check throttle body, MAF, IAC and fuel filter.... If it's none of these, maybe it's something to do with the fuel pump?....

Mine did this for a few weeks before the TPS sensor (Throttle Position Sensor) totally failed and threw a CEL. It mainly died at idle and ran fine while driving. Good luck with your findings.
