Well to begin i balanced my tires today and had my truck onmy lift and was looking around under there. As much as I hate to admit it I've never spent much time looking around under there. I bought the truck because I needed a truck that was cheaper to operate at the time so I traded in my 05 cummins for it and kinda have just maintained and run it never giving it much thought.

    Thing I noticed....
    1) my frame is immaculate as far as rust goes. There is literally none. Granted it spent a year and some change in idaho and the rest of its life in AZ so not much opportunity for rust but still very pleased.

    2) toyota engineers are smart. There is nothing impressive looking under there. Like the suspension components are surprisingly twiggish. nothing is beefy or gurthy. For instance my dodge had the biggest crossmembers and Dana 80's are truely huge. The taco meh.... But the strength of the truck is impressive. It shows wisdom in the engineers to design something simple but strong

    3) the exhaust is crazy rusty dispite living in AZ and the frame condition. I'm probably going to have to redo it soon.

    4) small size. The tacoma has deffinantly gained a pound or two sense the last installment but the frame and under structure are surprisingly small.

    5) composit beds are where it's at man. Seriously not having a source of corrosion sitting on top of the frame was a good call.

My truck has 53k on it and I'm going to keep it for many more years. How long I have no idea but I am impressed by this truck. It's fast (relatively) very comfortable and one thing I rave about are the seAts are soooo nice. I'm 6'2" and 220 and I feel good on long travels. I like that mpg is consistent. Around town I get on the high side of 17 and highway I get 19. It doesnt matter if I go 60 or 85 which I do I still pull those numbers. I towed a huge trailer weighing about 4500 lbs from idaho to AZ and got 16 mpg! Not to mention this truck handles the weight so good. The springs are weak but the truck is a good puller. Sorry for the long story and yes I'm board and don't expect responses but I hope maybe someone looking At getting a taco will find this useful. Given the chance I'd buy one again and FYI I am deffinantly not a toyota fanboy. It was like pulling teeth to get me in a dealer to test drive one.

Strange that you like the seats as there seems to be a lot of complaints about them by the pundits. But at 5'7" 160 I find them very comfy also and have done numerous 12 to 14 hour days in them with no butt or back complaints.
