strange sound when starting engine

    I have a 2012 4door long bed 4x4 v6....When I start it cold the engine revs up normal and you can hear the computer booting up then you hear a big clunk sound...This does not happen every time..Its a loud not sounding good clunk....Truck is in park .....I have 25k miles .....

    OK.

    How can you hear the computer booting up? What does that even mean. Are you talking about the ECU? You cannot hear it, it doesn't make noise.

    Silver Fox as a name implies he is an older gentleman (silver). Maybe he is hearing the fuel pump or the fan. The clunk I'm not sure, but it could be arthritis.

    My 08 Tacoma makes a clunk (engine shudders) when the A/C compressor kicks on and the engine is cold. Maybe it's that?
