That being said I USED to own a 2010 TRD 4x4, and I loved that truck, due to financial hardship at the time, I had to give it up. 4 years later I currently have a 4x4 Jeep Wrangler unlimited, in which I love, BUT, the gas mileage not so much, I drive everyday a total of 60 miles combined to and from work. That bring said I would like to know the realistic mpg people are getting with their 2.7L or V6, part of me wants a 2.7L pre runner double cab to save at the pump but I've read that it really equals the same in a v6 pretty runner. I remember having my TRD driving from reno Nevada to San Francisco on 1 full tank of gas, over 300 miles. I was really impressed, so I imagine the v6 would do me good, or a 2.7L would do even better? Anyone please help me make a decision, I want a double cab either prerunner or 4x4 but I really don't need 4x4 seeing is how I now live in Florida. Cheers, here is a pic of my old beloved truck. uploadfromtaptalk1407167488168.jpguploadfromtaptalk1407167505977.jpg

    Welcome to TW

What are you getting now with your Jeep?

I seem to average 15-17 with my V6 lately, although I do have maintenance that is due.

I'd say you don't need a 4x4, which would help you save a little on gas from the get go. Most people see around 16 city 18-19 highway with the V6. There are a few people the somehow get 20-21 but idk how. The 4 cyl you can see around 22-24. In my truck, 06 V6, I can usually get around 300 miles to a tank combined city/highway. I think it would be worth getting the V6 only cuz theres not much difference between the two engines MPG wise and you get more power with the V6 especially if you want a double cab

I'm getting HORRIBLE MPG, it's all hwy driving and I'm doing 70 mph averaging 14 to 16 mpg at best, I put 40 dollars in it the other day just to get me at 3/4 of a tank and by the end of the same day my fuel light came on. It's pretty bad.

I average 18-19 around town, 22ish freeway if speeds hit 70-75 or 24-25 if speed stays under 60mph. 4.0 V6 auto.

Yea my jeep being a 3.6L I baby the throttle and speed to suck the most of my mpg, and it's a dog either way, drains my fuel and my wallet, I think I might just go with a 2.7L pre runner, cheaper insurance, more miles from the pump, I live in flat florida, and I never tow and I never go offroad. I think it will fit my lifestyle just fine.

V6 21-22 MPG. I drive like a grandpa though and I'm running stock size tires and no lift.

I have a 09 Prerunner V6 and get on average 19mpg. I have a balance of stop and go city driving and highway driving ~70mph. I lost about 1mpg when I switched to bigger tires 265/70/17 from my stock 265/70/16.

I am 18-19 around town with pretty much no highway miles. Mine is a V6 TRD 4x4. I am also running AT's at 265/75/16's which might hit me a mpg or two.

If you keep stock size and run a highway tread, you will do better.
